Do I Have Sagging Floors?
Is it correct that walking on your flooring imparts a peculiar feeling? It’s possible that you have a sneaking suspicion that something is wrong, but you can’t say for sure that the issue lies with the structure’s foundation. If the floors in your home have a springy, soft, or uneven feel to them, there is a good chance that you are dealing with some type of issue, and it is in your best interest for us to come out and have a look at it.
Is There Some Way That I Can Check It Myself To See If There Are Any Problems?
Homeowners can take advantage of our inspection services at no cost and without incurring any obligations on their behalf by doing so. Having said that, we are aware that your time is valuable, and we are aware that some property owners want to be absolutely confident that they have an issue before they decide to have us come out and take a look at it. With that being said, we are conscious that your time is valuable. In order to gain a better idea of whether or not you are dealing with an issue, there are several self-diagnostic procedures that you may carry out in the comfort of your own home.
The Ball Test: The Ball Test can be performed on some floors when there is sufficient deflection in the floors to allow for it. Find a marble, a golf ball, or a ball bearing and give it to yourself (something small with a little weight to it is best). Take it with you and disperse it around the area of concern in as many different locations as possible. If there is a problem, you might notice that ball rolling down the area that is affected by it.
The Level Test: A test that takes place on a large level would be ideal for this. Just position it such that it covers the problematic area. If the floors are level, they should sit flush with the floor and be level. If the floors are not level, they should be level. It sounds like you might be having some problems if there are any spaces between the level and the floor.
Have You Recently Peered Into Your Basement Crawlspace?
You would NOT BELIEVE some of the stuff that we find in the crawlspaces of other people’s homes. I mean, who actually goes down into the basement of their house? Drills, old jacks, stacks, and shimmies of wood give off the appearance of a subpar game of Jenga. Take a look at some of the wacky things that we have discovered physically HOLDING UP homes in the gallery down below.
Why wait for answers if you are already questioning it if you are questioning it?
It bears stressing that our house inspections are provided to homeowners at no charge and without any commitments on their part. In most cases, inspections take between 60 and 90 minutes. Our examinations are extremely comprehensive. First, we will take some measurements of your home and then sketch out its exact footprint on paper. After that, using a zip level altimeter, we take a number of readings of the floor’s height at various points. Because of this data, we are able to determine EXACTLY where parts of the building are sagging—right down to a tenth of an inch! In addition, our experts will check the crawlspace from a closer vantage point by crawling underneath the house.
